Hello Folks - I have signed up to do a charity event and I am 'begging'...sorry. Please don't delete me yet!
Zip-Slide
Across the Clyde: Up in a crane 140 feet and slide 700 feet across the
river! I hate heights and don't swim well.....!!!!
I
have put myself forward to do a charity event for the debilitating
condition - Alzheimer (Scotland). It is part of a school and
international project with Italy, Spain, and the UK (a school in London
and us at Loudoun Academy). All this came about by an eTwinning
project, based on the film "Arrugas" (Wrinkles), which serves to
highlight the problems we face as we get older - either directly or
indirectly - to the younger generation. This is an international,
inter-generational project which is very exciting for our pupils. To
bring it closer to home, I signed up!
I
am trying to raise
as much money as possible - if you can manage any amount whatsoever - I
would appreciate your support. I have set up an online page for those
folks I don't see regularly.
Please forgive the intrusion and I hope I haven't offended anyone by writing this simple email. Click on the link below
Please help if you can. My mother-in-law has fallen victim to Alzheimer - I understand only too well what it is all about.
Julia
eTwinner Zip-Slides across the
Clyde for Alzheimers
eTwinner and
Madrid PDW delegate Julia Preston is Zip-Sliding across the Clyde
(in a crane 140 feet and slide 700 feet across the river) despite her fear
of heights.
Her fantastic
eTwinning project 'Arrugas' (Wrinkles) which was founded at the eTwinning workshop
in Madrid
last October has inspired her to do her bit to fight the debilitating condition
Alzheimers. Working with partners in Italy ,
Spain and
England , this
incredibly compassionate Scot has been highlighting the problems we
face as we get older- either directly or indirectly- to the younger generation.
‘Arrugas’ is an international, inter-generational project and has
been very exciting for her pupils. To bring it closer to home she has signed
herself up for this terrifying challenge.
Julia's
mother-in-law suffers from Alzheimers and she 'understand[s] only too well what
it is all about'.
Julia's
commitment to this eTwinning project and fantastic cause are a wonderful
testament to the truly positive impact eTwinning can have both inside the
classroom and beyond. To find out about Julia's project 'Arrugas' you can
contact her through www.etwinning.net If
you would like to support this event you can donate here.
